West Ham United and Newcastle United are interested in Marseille midfielder Morgan Sanson, according to The Sun.
It has been reported by the British tabloid that West Ham may offer Marseille Manuel Lanzini in a part-exchange deal to bring the £25 million-rated Sanson to the London Stadium in the January transfer window.
The report has added that the Hammers have already been turned down by the 26-year-old midfielder but they remain keen, while although Newcastle United like him, they would prefer to wait until the summer of 2021 if he is still available.
Morgan Sanson is a star
Sanson is one of the better players in Ligue 1 and has done well for Marseille since he moved from Montpellier in 2017.
The 26-year-old has made nine starts and two substitute appearances in Ligue 1 for Marseille so far this season, scoring two goals and providing three assists in the process, according to WhoScored.
The midfielder has also made four starts and two substitute appearances in the Champions League this season, according to WhoScored.
The Frenchman is a very experienced midfielder who would make an immediate impact at West Ham or Newcastle.
Marseille defensive midfielder Boubacar Kamara told La Provence about Sanson in February 2020, as covered by HITC Sport at the time: “He is athletic. He is a creator.
“I sometimes wonder how he can think of certain actions on the pitch. He has several lungs, he helps us a lot, he sacrifices himself to open spaces for us. He is evolving. For me, he is a very good player and he will become a very great player.”
