Speaking on the Inside Elland Road Podcast, Graham Smyth has claimed that Tyler Roberts could leave Leeds United on loan this month.
The Wales international hasn’t been one of Leeds’ key players this season, playing just 237 league minutes this term, but he has been on the bench for almost every game this term, missing out on the matchday squad only once in the Premier League.
Interestingly, the only time he wasn’t on the bench was in Leeds’ last game against Tottenham, and now it’s been claimed that he may move on loan this month.
“Tyler Roberts, Tyler, Tyler, Tyler. What to do about Tyler Roberts? There’s definitely a possibility of him going out in January on loan.
“I think it would have to be player led, because I don’t see Bielsa turning around now and saying ‘Tyler has to go on loan’, I think it’s more a case that Bielsa considers him part of his plans and would be quite happy to keep him and have him as an option and have him as a backup.
“But whether or not that’s good enough for Tyler himself, and he might feel that he wants to play more regularly. There will definitely be clubs, we know that there are clubs that are keen, there was talk of him moving in the summer, but that was baseless, but the talk of interest this time around is genuine.”

It’s interesting to hear that Roberts could be on the move this month, especially after there were reports of interest earlier this week.
It’s no surprise to hear that there are clubs interested in bringing Roberts in on loan, after all, he is a very talented player.
Bielsa may see him as a part of his plans, but there is certainly an argument to be made that Roberts would be better off spending a few months away from Elland Road.
He’s not played as much as he would have liked this season, and with Rodrigo, Pablo Hernandez and Patrick Bamford sitting above him in the pecking order in attacking midfield and up front, it’s hard to imagine he’ll break into the starting XI anytime soon.
He’s only 21 years old, so there’s still time for him to make his mark at Leeds, but perhaps the best thing for him at this point is to go out on loan.
