The 19-year-old made his Champions League debut on Tuesday evening against FC Midtjylland, and he certainly made an impression on a number of fans.
Supporters were quick to lavish him with praise, with his composed passing style drawing comparisons to some true footballing legends in the shape of Xabi Alonso and Andrea Pirlo.
While those supporters may be getting ahead of themselves a little bit, it certainly is good to see a teenager get this sort of praise on his European debut, and the fallout from this performance is bound to do his confidence the world of good.
Clarkson is yet to make his league debut for the Reds, but with Georginio Wijnaldum’s contract coming to an end and Thiago Alcantara perennially injured, there may be chances for him in the coming months to make an impression in the Premier League.
He definitely has a platform to build on after his impressive Champions League debut.
