Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has told Football.London what Folarin Balogun has said to him about his future.
Arteta has said that the 19-year-old striker has said that he wants to stay at Arsenal.
The Spaniard has added that he hopes that an agreement can be reached, and that the youngster is able to extend his current contract.
According to Transfermarkt.co.uk, Balogun is out of contract at Arsenal in the summer of 2021.
Arteta told Football.London about Balogun: “Well, we’re having some discussions with the player he knows we want to retain him at the club.
“We know that the length of his contract at the moment is an issue, but we’re trying to resolve it in the best possible way. We want him to stay he said to me he wants to stay at the club, so hopefully we can reach an agreement and extend his contract.”

Arsenal stay
Balogun scored Arsenal’s fourth goal in their 4-2 win against Dundalk away from home in the Europa League on Thursday evening.
The striker came on as a substitute in the 62nd minute and gave a good account of himself.
It is not going to be easy for the teenager to play week in and week out for the Gunners now, but his future would be better served by staying at the North London club.
Working under a young and talented manager such as Mikel Arteta and learning from the likes of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette would only make Balogun better.
It is hard to see the teenager play regular first-team football at any top Premier League club at the moment, and it would make sense for him to stay at the Emirates Stadium.
Described by Aubameyang as a “very, very talented” player who “works a lot and is a humble guy” in Football.London in November 2020, as covered by HITC Sport here, Balogun can be a big success for Arsenal in the future.
