West Ham United have confirmed the departure of Jeremy Ngakia via a statement on their official website, with Liverpool, Tottenham Hotspur and Watford all keen on the talented right-back.
Considering that Ngakia only made his professional debut five months ago, his short-lived career has felt like something of a whirlwind so far.
The 19-year-old has gone from little-known youngster to one of the first names on West Ham’s team-sheet in the blinking of an eye, while keeping the brilliant Sadio Mane quiet in a performance that David Moyes described as ‘fabulous’.
But Ngakia has also found himself at the centre of a transfer tug-of-war and a high-profile contract dispute before he has even reached adulthood.
The Mail reported that the London-born ace rejected a new £5,000-a-week deal at West Ham and, with his current deal due to expire next week, it seems that he has now played his final game in claret and blue.
“Jeremy Ngakia is leaving the Club after not signing a new contract,” the Premier League strugglers have confirmed.
“In line with our structure and policy, Jeremy was offered significantly improved terms to reward his breakthrough into the first-team squad this year, along with further contractual enhancements linked to his future progress and success.
“However, the player and his representatives declined to accept any of the offers, and also turned down a short-term extension until the end of the current season.”
Watford have been linked via The Guardian though, with all due respect, Ngakia could have some bigger offers on the table.
ReadLiverpool suggest that a move to Liverpool or Tottenham is on the cards.
Though it’s fair to say that, while Jurgen Klopp is famed throughout the world for his faith in young players, Jose Mourinho has a rather different reputation.
