Elfsborg striker Marokhy Ndione has admitted to Fotboll Direkt that he dreams of playing for Arsenal one day in the future with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette acting as inspirations for the youngster.

On paper at least, you would think this high-reaching 20-year-old has a long way to go before he fulfils his lifelong ambition of pulling on that famous red and white kit.

But if Ndione continues to catch the eye over in Sweden, maybe his dream could come true sooner than expected.

After all, Arsenal already appear to have snapped up one little-known Scandinavian this summer in the shape of Norway winger George Lewis.

Meanwhile, 17-year-old Swede Emil Roback also has interest in his services from the north London giants.

So Ndione, who scored his first ever Allsvenskan goal back in August, has no reason to believe that his fantasy will not become a reality if he continues to hone his talents in the north.

“I still have a lot to learn. Of course (I want to play in a major European league). My dream goal is Arsenal. This is the team I would like to play for,” he says.

“I have supported them since I was a kid and, as a young player, you obviously want to represent the team you cheered on.

“Players like Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette are world-class players that I watch a lot. This is the level you want to reach.”

Considering that both Aubameyang and Lacazette have been heavily linked with a move away from Arsenal this summer as their contracts run down, Mikel Arteta and co may be forced to dip into the market for a new number nine.

The best thing Ndione can do for now, however, is to get his head down and hope that he catches the eye of one of Arsenal’s scouts.

He can take some confidence from the fact that, quite clearly, Scandinavia is one market Arsenal are looking very closely at.
