Premier League strugglers West Bromwich Albion made an ambitious bid to sign Yerry Mina before he joined La Liga giants Barcelona.

Barcelona’s January signing got everyone talking on Sunday and, no, it was not Philippe Coutinho.
A £10.8 million signing from Palmeiras, Colombian centre-back Yerry Mina made his long-awaited Barca bow in the clash with Getafe after finally, finally sealing his move to the Camp Nou.
Barring a few shaky moments, not to mention a misplaced no-look pass which almost gave Getafe a shock lead, Mina turned heads for all the right reasons. His composed and eye-catching display was a rare positive in a goalless draw which cut Barca’s La Liga advantage over Atletico Madrid to seven points.

It’s clear already why Barcelona have spent so long chasing the 22-year-old. And it’s also easy to see why West Bromwich Albion made the most ambitious of attempts to hi-jack Mina’s move to Catalonia.
Sport (19th June, 2017) reported that West Brom had made a stunning £15 million bid to bring one of the world’s most exciting young centre-backs to The Hawthorns, despite the fact that Barcelona had an exclusive option to sign Mina. This would have made him the club’s joint record-signing and that alone shows just how highly West Brom rated this dancing, dynamic defender.

In truth, it was never likely that Mina was going to postpone his Barcelona dream for a spell in the Midlands, but West Brom fans will no doubt end up wishing he had.
