The Crystal Palace man has been linked with a move to both Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal in January.

BT Sport pundit Ian Wright looks on prior to the Emirates FA Cup Semi-Final match between Arsenal and Manchester City at Wembley Stadium on April 23, 2017 in London, England.

Ian Wright labelled Eagles ace Wilfried Zaha a maverick, when speaking to Sky Sports, and urged his former club Arsenal to sign him, suggesting that he is easily good enough to play for the Gunners.

The 25-year-old winger has impressed for Palace this season, scoring four goals in 13 Premier League appearances thus far, and he has played a major contributing role in his side’s recent climb up the table.

According to the Sun, both Arsenal and Tottenham are lining up £35 million January bids for Zaha, with the north London pair looking to add pace and power to their respective attacking line-ups.

And Wright believes that the pacey winger would be a useful addition to either squad.

The 54-year-old spoke exclusively to Sky Sports, and urged Arsene Wenger to make a move for the 25-year-old, calling the Palace man a ‘maverick’:

“Spurs have been linked. Arsenal have been linked. On ability wise, he is easily good enough. To play in a certain system, I’m not sure. He is a maverick.”

The Gunners really need someone of Zaha’s ilk, what with Alexis Sanchez edging ever closer to the exit door at the Emirates, whilst Spurs need further quality in the wide attacking areas, with Erik Lamela’s ongoing fitness issues becoming a real concern.

With the opening of the January transfer window just a week away, this will be one for both Arsenal and Tottenham fans to keep an eye on.
