Tottenham Hotspur play host to Southampton in the Premier League on Boxing Day.

Sky Sports pundit Paul Merson predicted the outcome of Tottenham’s Premier League clash with Southampton at Wembley on Boxing Day, when writing his regular prediction column for Sky Sports.
Spurs got their domestic campaign back on track with a comfortable 3-0 win away at Burnley yesterday, and will be looking to keep the pressure up on those above them in the table with another three points on Tuesday.
The Saints, meanwhile, are currently in the midst of an alarming run of form, having not won in their last six – a succession of results that has seen them drop to 13th in the Premier League table.

And Merson doesn’t see that run ending any time soon.
The Sky Sports pundit predicted a tough afternoon for Mauricio Pellegrino’s side when they head to London to take on Pochettino’s men on Boxing Day:

“They absolutely ripped Burnley apart, considering what Burnley have been doing and considering they had not won away from home since September, it was a big result. Southampton have gone – no Charlie Austin, no Virgil van Dijk, so I cannot see anything other than a Tottenham win.”
Prediction: Tottenham 3-0 Southampton
Spurs can jump back inside the Champions League spots with a win on Tuesday, whilst Southampton can climb as high as 10th with a victory, as unlikely as that may seem.
The game kicks off on Tuesday at 12:30 and can be seen exclusively live on Sky Sports.
