The Wolverhampton Wanderers stopper has been in fine form this season.

John Ruddy of Wolverhampton Wanderers gives orders during the Sky Bet Championship match between Wolverhampton and Fulham at Molineux on November 3, 2017 in Wolverhampton, England.

Wolves ace John Ruddy spoke exclusively to the Express & Star, and underlined Nuno Espirito Santo’s ambition as a major contributing factor behind his decision to join the club in the summer.

The Black Country outfit have been in sensational form this season, and currently sit comfortably at the top of the Championship table, four points clear of second placed Cardiff City.

Ruddy has perhaps not received the credit that he deserves, with many of Wolves’ attacking players taking all of the plaudits for their scintillating displays.

It is worth noting, however, that the 17 goals that Nuno’s men have conceded is the second best defensive record in the Championship.

The 31-year-old moved to Molineux on a free transfer in the summer, following the expiration of his contract with Norwich City, and what a smart piece of business that is beginning to look for Wolves.

Ruddy spoke exclusively to the Express & Star, and opened up on the series of events that lead to him making his switch to the Black Country:

John Ruddy of Norwich shouts instructions during the Sky Bet Championship match between Norwich City and Brighton & Hove Albion at Carrow Road on April 21, 2017 in Norwich, England.

“We had a choice to make. When Wolves came in there were a couple of offers on the table as well. Wolves just felt right. It felt exciting, I spoke to the manager and he laid out his plans and ambitions. Everyone’s ambitions were really high and that matched me and my own ambitions because I want and need to progress.”

Next up for Ruddy and co is a home game against Ipswich Town in the Championship on Saturday, and a victory would be a fine way to kick off their hectic festive schedule.
