Wolverhampton Wanderers have been magnificent so far this season.

DERBY, ENGLAND- October 29: Kevin Phillips, Assistant Coach at Derby County looks on before the Sky Bet Championship match between Derby County and Sheffield Wednesday at iPro Stadium on...

Kevin Phillips explained why the Wolves players should be wary as they head into the hectic Christmas period, when writing a column for the Express & Star, highlighting their recent dip in performance levels as a potential concern for Nuno Espirito Santo.

The Black Country outfit currently sit comfortably at the top of the Championship table, four points clear of second placed Cardiff City, although there is still a very long way to go, with 24 games still to be played in England’s second tier.

Wolves remain a fearsome prospect for the rest of the division, however, not only with their exciting, expansive brand of football, but also with their new-found grit and determination in grinding out results when they are not at their best.

Phillips, though, warned Nuno’s men that their recent dip in performances could be something to keep an eye on over the Christmas period, when writing a column for the Express & Star:

Wolves manager Nuno Espírito Santo looks on during the pre-season friendly match between Wolverhampton Wanderers and Leicester City at Molineux on July 29, 2017 in Wolverhampton, England.

“This could still be a tricky period for Wolves. Strong as their form has remained, their performances in December to date have perhaps not quite hit the heights they managed earlier in the campaign, particularly during October and November when at times they were imperious.”

Next up for Wolves is a home game against Ipswich Town on Saturday, and a win would be the ideal way to kick off their hectic festive schedule.
