The Arsenal ace has been heavily linked with a move to Everton.

Sam Allardyce looks on from the stand during the Premier League match between Everton and West Ham United at Goodison Park on November 29, 2017 in Liverpool, England.

Toffees boss Sam Allardyce will surely be desperate to bolster his ranks during the January transfer window, with the prospect of a top seven finish now seemingly a very real possibility.

One particular area where the 63-year-old will want to strengthen is his forward department, with a top class forward needed to help supplement the in-form Wayne Rooney.

According to the Mirror, Allardyce is lining up a swoop for Arsenal ace Theo Walcott, but could Everton do better than the 28-year-old forward?

The answer to that question is a simple one – a resounding yes.

The Blues were linked with a move for the Gunners forward in the summer, with the Mirror reporting that they were contemplating making a £30 million bid for the fleet-footed attacker.

That move obviously failed to materialise, however, and with just 18 months remaining on his current deal at the Emirates, alongside his dreadful form, he will surely be only be worth around £15-20 million now.

That would still be money poorly spent for the Toffees, though.

Walcott has barely featured for Arsenal this season, and when he has, his lack of guile and nouse in the final third has been quite staggering.

The 28-year-old has always been too overly reliant on pace, and defenders have wised up to that fact, dropping a yard or so deeper when defending against him and highlighting his ineptness at beating his opposite number with skill alone.

There are plenty of younger, more talented forwards than Walcott out there available for Everton to consider, including PSV Eindhoven ace Hirving Lozano, and after the 41-capped England international’s woeful showings this season, they should steer well clear of the Arsenal man.
