The West Ham United ace could be set to miss up to two games after an alleged dive against Stoke City.

David Moyes, Manager of Sunderland gives his team instructions during the Premier League match between Arsenal and Sunderland at Emirates Stadium on May 16, 2017 in London, England.

Hammers boss David Moyes spoke to reporters today, ahead of his side’s Carabao Cup quarter-final clash with Arsenal tomorrow, and shared what he told Manuel Lanzini in the wake of the FA charge levelled at the Argentine for his supposed dive against Stoke City at the weekend, as quoted by the club’s official website.

West Ham eventually ran out 3-0 winners against the Potters, after Mark Noble gave his side the lead from the penalty spot, after the referee adjudicated that Erik Pieters brought Lanzini down in the box.

An independent panel retrospectively deemed that the 25-year-old had deceived the referee, however, and the Hammers ace could now face a two-game ban.

Moyes addressed the media today, and responded when asked to give his take on the incident, sharing what he told Lanzini in the aftermath of the game, as quoted by WHUFC.com:

“He had a brilliant performance on Saturday, he made two assists, so I only said to him after the game about how well he played. Let me be clear. I’m the first one who wants to get rid of diving. That’s why I’m surprised by this one because nobody can be sure.”

If the Argentine chooses not to appeal against the FA charge, he will miss his side’s games against Arsenal in the Carabao Cup tomorrow night and Newcastle in the Premier League on Saturday.

And with Lanzini’s importance to his team, it will be a huge blow for Moyes to have him unavailable for selection for those two matches.
