The West Ham United forward has been in superb form of late.

David Moyes, Manager of Sunderland gives his team instructions during the Premier League match between Arsenal and Sunderland at Emirates Stadium on May 16, 2017 in London, England.

David Moyes deserves great credit for the manner in which he has guided his Hammers side away from the relegation zone and out of trouble, in spite of the negative feeling surrounding the club following his appointment as manager last month.

West Ham now sit in 15th position in the table, two points clear of the relegation zone, and their 3-0 win away at Stoke City yesterday highlighted the strides they have made under the Scot’s tenure.

One of the major contributing factors behind the Hammers’ recent resurgence has been the fine form of Marko Arnautovic, who has been sensational of late.

When Moyes took over at the London Stadium, many West Ham fans were calling for the Austrian to be sold, and he was being made a scapegoat for his side’s struggles.

It would have been the easy, and no doubt popular, decision for the Scot to banish the 28-year-old from the first-team, but he went against the grain, and showed faith in Arnautovic by giving him a sustained run in the starting XI.

And how the Austrian has repaid him.

He has scored two goals in the Hammers last three games – a run that has yielded seven points which have, in turn, catapulted them up the league table.

The former Stoke man isn’t an orthodox striker by trade, but is flourishing, having been given a new lease of life and a new role by the former Manchester United and Everton boss.

And if he keeps up his fine form, a top 10 finish will surely now be within the realms of reality for West Ham.
