Wolverhampton Wanderers have been magnificent so far this season.

Former Manchester City player Joleon Lescott looks on during the Premier League match between Manchester City and Everton at Etihad Stadium on August 21, 2017 in Manchester, England.

Ex-Wolves star Joleon Lescott sat down for an exclusive interview with the Express & Star, and delivered words of warning for Nuno Espirito Santo’s men, suggesting that a rough patch will be unavoidable in the Championship.

The Black Country outfit currently sit comfortably at the top of the table, four points clear of second placed Cardiff City, and perhaps more importantly, eight points in front of third placed Bristol City.

Nuno deserves great credit for the manner in which he has transformed a group of underperforming players into arguably the division’s best footballing side.

Lescott, though, warned Wolves that a tricky spell is imminent in the Championship, and highlighted the need for the players to stick together as they enter the hectic Christmas period, as quoted by the Express & Star:

“Patience will be important, everyone’s looking at them as being the best team in the league but they’ll go through a rough patch at some point and it’s about sticking together and having that belief. I haven’t seen much of them but they’re absolutely flying and by all accounts playing some fantastic football.”

Next up for Wolves is a trip to south Yorkshire to take on Sheffield Wednesday on Friday night, and Nuno’s men will have to be at their very best if they are to return to the Black Country with anything to show for their efforts.
