Tottenham Hotspur are currently three points adrift of the top four

Spurs ace Eric Dier spoke exclusively to Sky Sports, and discussed his side’s chances of finishing inside the top four this season, insisting that this season will be the toughest yet, with so many teams spending heavily during the summer.

Tottenham seem to have got their season back on track, after recording consecutive wins in the Champions League and Premier League respectively, but they still sit 18 points adrift of Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City side in seventh position.

Mauricio Pochettino’s men went through a really difficult spell, starting with their defeat in the north London derby – a run that arguably ended their hopes of Premier League glory.

The Lilywhites’ primary target has surely now changed, with a place inside the top four now a real priority for them.

Dier, 23, spoke exclusively to Sky Sports, and explained how the task of finishing inside the Champions League spots will be harder than ever before this season:

Eric Dier of Tottenham Hotspur warms up prior to the Premier League match between Tottenham Hotspur and AFC Bournemouth at Wembley Stadium on October 14, 2017 in London, England.

“Some of the teams in the top six have spent a lot of money and really improved their squads. It’s extremely competitive at the moment and it’s going to be the hardest season yet.”

Next up for Tottenham is a home game against Brighton and Hove Albion in the Premier League tonight, and nothing other than a win will do, if they are to keep the pressure up on those above them in the table.
