West Ham United are currently entrenched in a real relegation battle.

David Moyes, Manager of Sunderland gives his team instructions during the Premier League match between Arsenal and Sunderland at Emirates Stadium on May 16, 2017 in London, England.

Hammers boss David Moyes shared the type of player that he will be targeting during the January transfer window, insisting that the club’s owners will back him financially if he finds the right deals, as quoted by the club’s official website.

West Ham are currently in real trouble, and sit precariously in 18th position in the Premier League table after their woeful return of just 10 points form their opening 13 league outings.

They undoubtedly need to strengthen all over the pitch, what with Moyes’ side leaking goals, lacking quality in the final third, and being outplayed and outfought regularly in the engine room.

The Scot will have to be smart in his recruitment, however, if he is to add genuine quality to his ranks, without breaking the bank.

Moyes explained how any player that he brings to West Ham will have to fulfil a certain criteria, in order for the owners to back any potential deal, as quoted by WHUFC.com:

“The important thing is we try to sign good players for the future but who could do a job immediately if possibly, with the right attitudes, and the right types. We will have to look to see what we can do in terms of bringing in new players. If we’re in the same position, I have no doubts that the owners would support the right deals.”

The Hammers face a crucial run of games leading up to Christmas and on into the New Year, including trips to Manchester City and Tottenham, and home matches against Chelsea and Arsenal.

Next up though, is a trip to Everton tonight, and three points would do the manager and the squad the world of good, as they look to excavate themselves from the mess that they are currently in.
