Liverpool have been on a woeful run of form of late.

Reds boss Jürgen Klopp spoke to the media during his pre-match press conference, and discussed Philippe Coutinho’s recent slump in form, suggesting that the Brazilian is trying to hard, and needs to relax a bit more, as quoted by the Liverpool Echo.

Danny Murphy delivers verdict on Liverpool’s title hopes

The 24-year-old has played 17 Premier League games for Liverpool this season, contributing with five goals and five assists.

But he has struggled since returning from a lengthy spell on the sidelines through injury, failing to score in eight appearances, with his dip in form coinciding with the Reds’ slide down the table.

And Klopp told reporters how Coutinho has been trying to hard recently, as quoted by the Liverpool Echo:

“Phil is the type of guy who takes everything in games. It’s not been easy for him. He takes all the responsibility in the world. Yeah, he tries to do too much. That’s him. He has had a very good week in training. We have seen some very good signs from him.”

Klopp’s men play host to Tottenham Hotspur later today, and will need the mercurial Brazilian to be at his very best, if they are to win the game.
