Pedraza was perhaps the more intriguing signing that Leeds made on deadline day – given that Mo Barrow is no stranger to English fans after spending several years with Swansea City – and supporters got their first glimpse of him in action during their most recent outing, the Yorkshire derby with Huddersfield.

Though Garry Monk’s men did not secure the result they would have wanted, Pedraza’s performance following his second-half introduction provided the supporters with something to be positive about as he looked lively and tested the Huddersfield goalkeeper with a good effort from distance.

And Redfearn insisted that he liked what he had seen from the youngster on loan from Villarreal.

“I thought he had a really good debut when he came on, really positive, really front foot, got a real turn of pace, takes defenders on,” he told Radio Yorkshire.

“His first real call of action was a 40 yard run and a strike at goal which the keeper made a great save from and it lifted the crowd at the back of the goal, and he turned Leeds defending at that point to attacking within seconds.

“That sort of pace and that sort of positivity will really go down [well] with the Elland Road faithful.”

With the defeat to Huddersfield having the potential to halt a fair amount of the momentum that Leeds have built in recent months, Monk will be hoping that Pedraza can build upon the promising signs he showed and make an impact over the coming weeks.
