AC Milan beat Bologna 1-0 on Wednesday evening, with Gerard Deulofeu grabbing an assist.
AC Milan manager Vincenzo Montella has told Eurosport that he felt Gerard Deulofeu was ‘incredible’ against Bologna on Wednesday evening.
Milan travelled to the Stadio Renato Dall’Ara in search of three points having lost 1-0 at home to Sampdoria on Saturday, and they somehow claimed a 1-0 win over Bologna in a bizarre game.

Montella’s men were down to ten men after just 37 minutes as defender Gabriel Paletta was sent off for two bookings, and it was made even worse when Juraj Kucka was also sent off on 59 minutes, leaving Milan to see out the last half an hour with just nine men.

Milan looked to be edging towards a point, but remarkable claimed all three as Gerard Deulofeu used his pace and trickery down the right hand side to get to the byline before teeing up Mario Pasalic for a shock winning goal.

With just nine men on the pitch, Milan managed to claim the most unlikely of victories, and winger Deulofeu had a huge hand in the goal as he looks to impress in Italy.

The Spanish wide man has been sent out on loan to the San Siro having struggled to play regularly for Everton this season, and he has been making an early impact with the Italian side.
After the final whistle, Milan boss Montella told Eurosport that he felt Deulofeu had an ‘incredible’ game, as he managed to occupy defenders throughout despite Milan’s numerical disadvantage.
Montella was then asked whether Deulofeu could play in a false nine role – a position he played briefly under Ronald Koeman in pre-season – as Dries Mertens does for Napoli, and he suggested that whilst they are different players, Deulofeu could well feature in a new position for Milan more regularly.
“Deulofeu? He had an incredible game, he occupied their defence on his own,” said Montella. “Deulofeu false nine? I like to play like that, but it depends on the harmony of the team. Geri is a different player to Mertens, he can do that role but in a different way,” he added.
