Tottenham Hotspur have a strong Belgian contingent currently present at the club.
Spurs duo Jan Vertonghen and Mousa Dembele both joined the club in the summer of 2012, and the 29-year-old defender opened up on his incredible relationship with the former Fulham man, during an interview with the club’s official website, sharing a phone call he made to Dembele prior to his switch to White Hart Lane from Craven Cottage.

Both players have since gone on to establish themselves as key members of the Tottenham side, and their importance has been underlined when either of them have been absent from Mauricio Pochettino’s starting XI.
And Vertonghen spoke highly of Dembele, during a wide-ranging interview with TottenhamHotspur.com, explaining how happy he was when he found out that Spurs were bringing the powerful midfielder to the club:

“It was funny. I signed quite early in the window and his transfer was dragging on and on. I remember on the 29th of August, I called him and said ‘what’s going on? You only have two days left!’ and he said ‘yes, but I’m signing tomorrow!’ and I was very happy to hear that because I knew what kind of player Mousa is. On and off the pitch, I was a very happy guy.”

The 85-capped Belgium international defender is currently out of action, after sustaining a serious ankle injury against West Bromwich Albion last month, and he will be desperate to get back involved in first-team action.

Dembele has had to endure injury problems of his own this season, and has made just 16 Premier League appearances.
There is no doubt, however, how important both Belgians are to Pochettino’s plans gong forward.
