England international Daniel Sturridge could be set for a move to West Ham United should he leave Liverpool in the summer; a move that might benefit the England national side greatly.

With the chance of a Premier League title seemingly having slipped through their fingers, it’s no surprise to see Liverpool already planning for next season. The club, who have struggled at the back this season, have also looked at times like lacking a central striker alternative who fits Klopp’s system; often relying on either Robert Firmino or Phillipe Coutinho to play in a ‘False 9’ role.

Daniel Sturridge, the club’s truest centre forward, has been left in the cold by Klopp for much of the campaign, and has been once again linked with a move away from the club in The Guardian.

The former Chelsea and Bolton Wanderers striker, whose time at Anfield has been marred by injuries, has scored 45 goals in 81 appearances for Liverpool since joining the club in 2013. A period under Brendan Rodgers, where Sturridge was partnered up top by Luiz Suarez and Raheem Sterling, saw the striker become part of the deadly ‘SSS’: a strikeforce which nearly took Liverpool to their first ever Premier League title.

However under Klopp, Sturridge has found himself left in the dark, and the striker could reportedly be set to link up with another former Liverpool striker at West Ham United. The Hammers are in need of another striker to complement Andy Carroll up top, and Sturridge’s game would suit the big Geordie striker perfectly.

Often finding success when working off another striker, as Sturridge did with Luis Suarez in the past for Liverpool and also with Nicolas Anelka back in his Bolton Wanderers days, Andy Carroll could well be the ideal striking partner for the Liverpool outcast.

Crucially, Sturridge would also be an option if Carroll is missing through injury.

The partnership wouldn’t just be good news for West Ham United either. It would also benefit the England national side greatly. Nowhere in the Premier League are two England international strikers playing with each other week in, week out, and therefore a move to West Ham for Sturridge could mean great things for Gareth Southgate.
