Arsenal should make a statement of intent just Like Tottenham Hotspur did earlier in the season, says Chris Sutton.
Arsenal duo Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil are two of the best players in the Premier League. Although Sanchez and Ozil can go missing during some matches, there can be no doubt that both are world class.
Chile international forward Sanchez joined Arsenal from Barcelona in the summer of 2014 and has a contract with the Gunners until June 2018, according to Transfermarkt.co.uk.
As for Ozil, the Germany international attacking midfielder has been on the books of the North London outfit since 2013 and has a contract until June 2018, according to Transfermarkt.co.uk.

According to The Mirror, Arsenal are trying to tie down the duo to long-term contracts, but it is far from certain that they will be playing at the Emirates Stadium next season.

Former Chelsea striker Chris Sutton, who now works as a pundit for BBC Sport and BT Sport, has suggested that Arsene Wenger’s side should hand Sanchez and Ozil new deals, just as their North London rivals Tottenham Hotspur did with Harry Kane and Dele Alli earlier in the season.

Tottenham handed a new contract to 20-year-old midfielder Alli in September 2016, while 23-year-old striker Kane put pen to paper on a fresh deal in December 2016.

“Arsenal have not done that and the situation with forward Alexis Sanchez and midfielder Mesut Ozil is worrying for them,” Sutton wrote on BBC Sport.
“Both players’ futures remain unclear and while some people might just think their contract talks must be complicated, the situation is actually pretty simple: if a player wants to commit to a club, they do it.
“I cannot believe it is about money. Wenger would not be so stupid not to give two such key players what they want, within reason.
“Unless their demands are absolutely astronomical then Arsenal have to make a statement of intent – the same way Spurs did with England duo Harry Kane and Dele Alli earlier in the season.”
