The Leeds United striker has barely featured in recent months.
It is fair to say Leeds United striker Marcus Antonsson has not had the campaign he was hoping for, with only one league goal in 16 Championship matches to date.

The Swede has found the net twice in the EFL Cup, but the simple fact is Antonsson has failed to replicate the form that attracted Leeds’ attention in the first place and he has now suffered the indignity of dropping into the Whites’ under-23 side for their clash with Sheffield United.

With Chris Wood the undisputed first-choice striker at Elland Road, Antonsson has work to do to turn things around but 13 minutes of league action since Boxing Day speaks volumes.
As a result it is no surprise to see Leeds give the 25-year-old some game time with the second string. However this is not what he signed up for and it will be interesting to see how long he remains at the club, especially if they earn promotion back to the Premier League next season.

Antonsson scored a late consolation goal the under-23s in a 4-3 defeat on Monday afternoon, but the simple fact is his time at Leeds could be brief unless there is a significant upturn in form (and fortune) between now and May.
