Teammates’ comments and player’s aspiration suggest Leeds would be signing a potential star if they get Ryan Kent

Leeds United have been linked with a summer move for Ryan Kent.

According to a report from the print edition of the Sun (5/02/17 on page 63), Leeds United are considering a £2.5million summer bid for Liverpool youngster Ryan Kent.

The 20-year-old is currently on loan at Barnsley, where he has impressed thus far, and that form is said to have attracted the attention of Whites manager Garry Monk.

At first glance Leeds would appear to have enough wingers on their books, but with some of them only there temporarily there could be a few changes in the close season; and when you consider what some of Kent’s young Liverpool teammates have said about him in the past, the prospect of a move to Elland Road should excite the Leeds faithful.

Back in 2014, then-Liverpool midfielder Jordan Rossiter was asked by their official website who the most skilful player at his level was, to which he replied, “Ryan Kent”.

At the time the reported Leeds target was only 17 but he was already being hailed as the jewel in the crown of Liverpool’s blossoming academy.

Fast-forward a few weeks and it was Reds defender Tom Brewitt’s turn to name Kent as the most skilful player at his age range at Anfield in a Q&A with liverpoolfc.com.

That is one thing when you are 17, and quite another when you are 20, and Kent’s performances for Barnsley suggest he is going to fulfil his potential ad become one of the most exciting players in the country.
