Everton are currently six points behind Liverpool in the Premier League table.

Harry Redknapp and Paul Ince have told BT Sport’s Premier League Tonight, which was broadcast on 4th February, that he believes Liverpool will finish ahead of Everton this season.

Liverpool have been in abject form in recent weeks, while Everton have picked up more points than any other Premier League club in their last six matches.

The Toffees have closed the gap on Liverpool down to just six points, and they appear to be going from strength to strength.

However, Ince and Redknapp both feel that Liverpool will hold off the challenge from their Merseyside rivals.

“It’s not impossible, but I still think Liverpool,” Redknapp said, when asked who would finish higher – Everton or Liverpool.

“I don’t think that [Everton catching Liverpool] will happen,” Ince agreed. “On form, you can see why Evertonians are thinking that, but Liverpool have too much.”

Redknapp did still talk up Everton’s squad, though, and suggested that he felt that they could hold on to seventh place.

“They can finish in the top six, but we were sitting here four, five weeks ago and suddenly we were saying Everton’s back four is too old, it’s falling to pieces. That’s how silly the game is. Four or five weeks later, we’re saying ‘what a team they are’,” the former Tottenham Hotspur manager said.

“I still don’t think they’ll finish sixth, all season they have been my tip to finish seventh. But they’re a great football club.”

Everton’s most recent victory came against Bournemouth, as they picked up a 6-3 win at Goodison Park.

The Toffees are next in action at the weekend, when they take on Middlesbrough at the Riverside Stadium.
