“First half we went to the pitch knowing the other results put us under pressure and I told them at half-time that we had to play in the way we know how to play, without pressure,” Karanka told Middlesbrough’s official website.

“That’s because when you are here [White Hart Lane] trying to something against Tottenham under pressure it’s impossible.

Over the course of the 90 minutes at White Hart Lane on Saturday evening, hosts Tottenham had 65% of the possession, took 17 shots of which five were on target, and earned 11 corners, according to BBC Sport.

Visitors Middlesbrough had 35% of the possession, took eight shots of which none was on target, and earned two corners, according to BBC Sport.

Boro are 15th in the Premier League table at the moment with 21 points from 24 matches, just a point above the relegation zone.
