Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal are going strong in the Premier League at the moment.

Tottenham are second in the league table at the moment with 47 points from 23 matches, nine points behind leaders and London rivals Chelsea.

Arsenal are level on points with Spurs, but they are a place behind in third due to an inferior goal difference.

Former Arsenal attacker Merson has predicted Tottenham to finish above their North London rivals in the Premier League this season.

“Even Tottenham will finish above Arsenal this year,” Merson wrote in The Daily Star. “They are a better team. And what a disaster that will be.”

Spurs finished behind Arsenal in the league table last season, but they were the team who were pushing Leicester City until the final weeks of the campaign for the title.

Pochettino’s side finishing above the Gunners should not come as a surprise to anyone, but Merson’s prediction does come as a shock. After all, the Sky Sports pundit is a former Arsenal player.

Tottenham will face Middlesbrough at White Hart Lane in the Premier League on Saturday evening, while Arsenal will take on London rivals Chelsea away from home at Stamford Bridge.
