The Moroccan international is on his way back to Molineux after a spell at the African Cup of Nations.

Since his arrival at Molineux, Moroccan midfielder Romain Saiss has had a testing start to his career in English football. The hard-tackling defensive midfielder, who played a key part in French side Angers SCO’s tremendous season in Ligue 1 last year, has found himself in and out of the team.

Since he departed for the African Cup of Nations, a lot has changed at Wolves. Under new boss, Paul Lambert, the side are undergoing a rejuvenation of form, with the team picking up a fantastic win in the FA Cup against Liverpool, and a recent 1-3 away win against Barnsley in the league.

So where does this leave Saiss? In Lambert’s favoured 4-2-3-1, the defensive midfield positions are currently being dominated by the ever-reliable David Edwards, with George Saville and Conor Coady also able to fill that role.

In his 12 appearances for the side this season, Saiss has at times struggled to keep up with the pace of Championship football, and has been shifted around, playing in both central midfield and central defence at times.

But is there a place for Saiss in the side? The Moroccan proved at Angers SCO last season just how good he can be, and at times has shown glimpses of the strong, excellent passer that shone so brightly in France.

If he could nail down a decent run in the side, and began to adjust with the demands of the Championship, Saiss could still be a key player for Wolves.

Do you agree Wolverhampton Wanderers fans? Should Saiss get given a chance? Or are there simply better players who can fill his position? Let us know in the comments!
