The Liverpool star admits it took a while before he felt comfortable at Anfield.

Reds star Adam Lallana sat down for an exclusive interview with the club’s official website, and shared how he felt like a stranger following his big money move from Southampton to Liverpool in the summer of 2014.

The 28-year-old has since gone on to establish himself as one of Jürgen Klopp’s most important players, and has comfortably justified his £25 million price tag.

Lallana explained to LiverpoolFC.com how it wasn’t all plain sailing at Anfield initially, however, and that it took him time to adjust and acclimatise to the pressure involved with playing for such a big club:

“I remember my first game at Anfield against Aston Villa. I was a substitute and I was on the sideline warming up and feeling a little bit like a stranger. At that time, I obviously didn’t have any relationship with the fans because I’d never played in front of them before, the same with my teammates. It was something I had to adapt to and get used to. Now? I’ve never felt more at home than I do right now.”

The former Saints man has been exceptional for Liverpool this season, with seven goals and seven assists in 21 Premier League outings, and has been a consistent driving force behind everything good that Klopp’s men have done.

And the Reds will need him to maintain his high performance levels, if they are to have any chance whatsoever of catching league leaders Chelsea, with 10 points currently separating the two sides.
