Mauricio Pochettino has shown great faith in the young American, and has given him four appearances in the first-team so far this term.

Although Carter-Vickers is yet to make his Premier League debut, he has started in both the EFL Cup and the FA Cup.

And King predicts that the powerful centre-back could have a huge future at White Hart Lane.

“I’m really happy with the progress he’s made. He’ll be learning every day in training with the first team, feeling comfortable around them and although he’s going to have to be patient and wait for his chance,” he said.

“He’s obviously got some good players to try to dislodge in his position but with time I feel that he will be someone who can play a big part in the club’s future.”

Carter-Vickers is one of a number of promising academy graduates currently breaking through at Spurs.

Pochettino has also given game time to the likes of Marcus Edwards and Harry Winks this term.
