West Ham have enjoyed a turbulent few days in the transfer window.

With the transfer window swiftly approaching its deadline, here is a look at what some of the West Ham supporters who have taken to fans forums Knees Up Mother Brown and Hammers Chat are talking about on Monday morning…

Report: West Ham to make £9m bid for Hull City defender Harry Maguire

Dimitri Payet

It has finally happened. Dimitri Payet is no longer a West Ham player having made his return to Marseille after an ugly saga which saw the Frenchman go on strike (via Guardian). While some Hammers supporters have expressed some disappointment that a player of his calibre is no longer amongst Slaven Bilic’s squad, the large majority of those commenting are pleased that he has gone following his recent actions.

Darren Randolph vs Adrian vs Joe Hart

While the debate of who should be number one between Darren Randolph and Adrian is nothing new – the pair have both played 11 times in the Premier League this season – the discussion has been reignited following talk of a summer move for Manchester City goalkeeper Joe Hart (via Sky Sports). Both current keepers have their flaws according to Irons supporters, but a considerable number appear to be somewhat unconvinced that a move for Hart is the answer, especially one user on Hammers Chat who suggested that Randolph is a clear number one.

Are the owners investing enough in the squad?

West Ham fans would certainly be forgiven for questioning the club’s recruitment given how many of their summer signings have simply not been good enough thus far. And that frustration has perhaps been enhanced by the situation surrounding Scott Hogan. Sky Sports recently suggested that the Hammers’ bid was £3 million below Brentford’s valuation. But with £10.2 million spent on Robert Snodgrass (via BBC Sport), £8 million spent on Jose Fonte (via Guardian) and time left to still do the Hogan deal, some fans were willing to give the owners the benefit of the doubt.

Is West Ham target better than John Stones?

While the approval of West Ham target Harry Maguire is not unanimous, it appears that many are keen to see the Hull City man arrive at the London Stadium following talk of a £9 million bid (via The Irish Sun). One user on KUMB even suggested that Maguire is a more impressive defender than Manchester City and England man John Stones, who moved to the Etihad for £47.5 million in the summer (via BBC Sport), more than five times what West Ham have offered for Maguire. Surely that would be a bargain if they pulled that one off?

Frustration over Scott Hogan

As previously mentioned, Scott Hogan’s future remains up in the air heading into the final couple of days in the window. The Daily Star recently suggested that Payet’s exit would see the Hammers press for a deal for the Bees man, so that frustration would surely move to another level if the deadline comes without Hogan becoming an Irons player, especially if the amount of add-ons remains the stumbling block to the deal (via Sky Sports).
