Tottenham Hotspur are leading the race to sign Nottingham Forest’s Oliver Burke, a report in Friday’s Mirror newspaper (page 62) claims.

Burke has made an impressive start to the 2016-17 season, scoring three goals from four Championship appearances.

Sunderland, whose manager David Moyes watched Burke in action against Brentford last week – as previously reported by HITC Sport – were claimed in Thursday’s Sun newspaper to have made an £8 million bid for the winger already.

However, as far as the Mirror is concerned, it is Spurs who hold the most prominent interest.

Forest are said to value academy product Burke at £10 million, with club officials “privately resigned to cashing in” according to the report.

The 19-year-old broke into the Reds’ side two seasons ago and established himself as a regular last term, with his club form prompting a first international appearance for Scotland earlier this year.

Spurs appear to be seeking a new winger ahead of Wednesday’s transfer deadline, with a proposed move for Marseille’s Georges-Kevin Nkoudou still on the cards (RMC Sport) and a bid for Crystal Palace’s Wilfried Zaha being made in the meantime (BBC).
