Nottingham Forest’s Burke was watched by Sunderland boss David Moyes earlier this month.
According to a report in Thursday’s Sun newspaper (page 53), Sunderland have made an £8 million bid for Nottingham Forest winger Oliver Burke.
Burke has made an electric start to the 2016-17 campaign, scoring three goals in Forest’s opening four league matches.
And having watched the 19-year-old during the Reds’ recent defeat against Brentford – as reported by HITC Sport last week – Sunderland boss David Moyes looks to have made his move.
Burke broke into the Forest side two seasons ago and established himself as a regular last term, with his club form leading to an international debut for Scotland earlier this year.
Moyes is still looking to add to the Sunderland squad he inherited from Sam Allardyce in July and Burke is not the only Championship player his fellow Scot’s radar, it seems.
According to a report in Wednesday’s Sun newspaper, the Mackems have also bid £3 million for Barnsley centre-back Alfie Mawson.
Meanwhile, Talksport reports that a £7 million deal to sign Sevilla midfielder Vicente Iborra has been agreed, with the Spaniard due on Wearside to finalise the switch.
