Emre Can has told Tutto Mercato Web that Jude Bellingham is “world class” amid reports that Liverpool are trying to sign Can’s Borussia Dortmund teammate ahead of the summer window – as Dortmund prepare to take on Chelsea.

Bellingham, 19, has sparkled for Dortmund. Clocking up 121 games, England star Bellingham has had a hand in 44 goals in 121 Dortmund games. His best form in the final third has come this season, scoring 10 goals and creating six.

Spanish newspaper AS report that Liverpool are favourites to pull off a deal for the England ace – even if a transfer fee could easily exceed £100m. Manchester City are keen. Real Madrid want to sign Bellingham in the summer of 2024.

Speaking about Bellingham ahead of this week’s second leg between Dortmund and Chelsea, ex-Reds star Can gave his verdict. He raved about his teammate, telling reporters a six-word verdict on him: “He is a world class talent.”

Emre Can says Jude Bellingham is world class amid Liverpool reports

Liverpool need Bellingham this summer. The midfielder would not just be a good signing, but he would be the catalyst that takes Liverpool from the mire they find themselves – despite a 7-0 win over Manchester United – back to the brink.

Of course, it is not a deal that will be done on the cheap. Liverpool will really have to put their hands in their pocket, to lure Bellingham to Anfield. Convincing him will not be an issue, especially if the Reds qualify for the Champions League.

With James Milner, Naby Keita, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and other midfielders likely to leave the club in the summer on a free, Bellingham cannot be the only midfield arrival. But, he is the man to take Liverpool back to the top table.
