Arsenal are said to be interested in signing Alejandro Garnacho from Manchester United as Mikel Arteta keeps an eye on his contract situation.

90min believe the Gunners have been alerted to the 18-year-old’s potential availability as his contract at Old Trafford expires in June 2024.

If that is true, Garnacho would have caught the eye of Arteta last night following a terrific performance in the FA Cup, as Manchester United recorded a 3-1 win over West Ham.

However, Chris Sutton noticed one “embarrassing” moment from the Argentina Under-20 international.

What’s the story?

Well, Garnacho attempted to con Michael Salisbury last night as he went to ground easily inside the penalty area.

Sutton felt it was an “embarrassing” dive from Garnacho, although Salisbury did not see fit to hand him a yellow card for simulation despite also refusing to award a penalty.

Any question marks over his dive were quickly forgotten as the teenager scored a remarkable 90th minute winner to send Manchester United into the Quarter-Final stage.

It capped a tremendous display from the Manchester United No.49 on what was a special night for him personally.

Arsenal will be desperate to sign Garnacho

It is obvious that Manchester United have a special talent on their hands, and if the Red Devils fail to agree a new contract with him, Arsenal will be desperate to lure the Argentine to the Emirates Stadium.

Arteta already has a number of wonderkids in his squad, such as Bukayo Saka, Gabriel Martinelli and William Saliba, all of whom are performing at a very high level as the Gunners sit top of the Premier League.

Therefore, the Spaniard knows exactly how to coach young prospects like Garnacho, and he will surely be desperate to get his hands on this precocious talent if he does decide to leave Old Trafford.
