Arsenal fans aren’t liking the idea of them seemingly pushing to sign Aaron Ramsdale this summer.
There is doubt over the future of Arsenal’s number one, Bernd Leno, who didn’t end the recent campaign in a strong fashion.
But with Mat Ryan returning to Brighton, Alex Runarsson frightening the whole fanbase with his performances last season, at the very least, one new goalkeeper will be needed this summer.
And it seems as though they are pushing for Ramsdale and they are now in talks with Sheffield United about a possible deal for the player.
What is worrying and baffling the Arsenal faithful is that they may end up spending a lot of money on a keeper that wasn’t just relegated last season, but also the season before in Bournemouth colours.
The £19 million player (BBC Sport) is currently on England duty at Euro 2020, so if any deal does take place then it will probably be until after the tournament is over.
On one hand, those holding the keys to Arsenal are now seemingly prepared to spend the money needed to revamp this squad.
But there are concerns that it’s going on the wrong players, which then points towards some supporters not being convinced by those in the boardroom.
The bottom line for Mikel Arteta is that the first ten games of the new campaign will dictate what happens to him.
He could have been sacked on several occasions last season, no more than when they were knocked out of the Europa League by Unai Emery, so start badly and he’ll probably be packing his bags.
