Tottenham defender Matt Doherty could reportedly be leaving the club in January, with Spurs interested in selling the 29-year-old.
According to the Athletic, the Republic of Ireland international could be one of a handful of players to depart north London in the winter window. Dele Alli and Steven Bergwijn are both linked with exits, as well as Joe Rodon.
Doherty only joined Tottenham in 2020. However, the former Wolves star has struggled for both playing time and form since the move down to the English capital.
Both Nuno Espirito Santo and Antonio Conte have both prefered Emerson Royal and Japhet Tanagana at right-back, with Doherty hardly featuring for Tottenham this season.
Indeed, with Conte likely to refresh the squad in January, selling Doherty could be a good piece of business for the north London side. And on social media, supporters are eager to see the defender depart next month.
After all, the Ireland star has played just three Premier League matches this season. And an exit from Tottenham could be perfect for Doherty, who needs to get his career back on track after flourishing with Wolves.
