Bayern Munich are frustrating Serge Gnabry with their focus on renewing the contracts of others before his, but the reported Liverpool transfer target leaving would be ‘surprising’.
That’s according to Kicker, who report the forward wants to stay at the Allianz Arena past his current contract. Gnabry will enter the final year of his existing terms at the end of the season, and hopes Der FCB make progress towards presenting him with an improved offer.

The Bundesliga outfit have so far prioritised talks with Robert Lewandowski, Manuel Neuer and Thomas Muller before discussing Gnabry’s future. All four are currently set to become free agents from June 2023, which risks the German giants losing four vital first-team stars.

Gnabry hopes the hierarchy in Bavaria want to retain him as much as he wants to stay with the club. Their appreciation for what he gives will be paramount to the 26-year-old putting pen to paper on new terms. So, Bayern rarely looking at his situation is a point of irritation.
Another cause of frustration is the terms FCB have so far suggested to the forward’s agent. Sky Germany recently reported Bayern Munich are yet to table a contract worth anywhere close to what Gnabry asks for. He also knows Real Madrid and Barcelona are keen on him.

Additionally, Sky Germany note Liverpool and Manchester United are tracking Gnabry and Bayern Munich’s discussions over a new contract in view of a transfer. The pair, plus their La Liga rivals, are ready to pounce and prey on his deal ending in 2023 without new terms.

But as Gnabry is not angling for a move, the Reds, Red Devils, Los Blancos and Blaugrana face a waiting game. And their wait may last until 2023, with Kicker noting that a move this summer would be ‘surprising’. Even if Bayern can still demand a hefty fee for the forward.
So far this season, Gnabry has offered Julian Nagelsmann 13 goals and nine assists over 36 games in all competitions. He has also taken his Germany tally to 20 goals and six assists in 31-caps. But an illness meant the winger has missed their March fixtures under Hansi Flick.
Yet flourishing for Die Mannschaft has delighted Flick since he left Bayern Munich for the German national side last summer. “He’s dynamic and a real threat in front of goal,” Flick said, via quotes by Bundesliga.com. “He’s on his way to reaching [a] world-class level.”
