Dujuan Richards has said that he is confident about having passed his trial and could be set to sign for Newcastle United.
While the Magpies’ U-21 manager Ben Dawson had confirmed that he had not heard a thing about the ‘unstoppable’ 17-year-old striker trying out for the side, it seems as if the confusion no longer exists. Eddie Howe’s side, who also wrapped up a deal for another youngster from abroad in Garang Kuol could well sign the Jamaican wonderkid.
Only time will tell whether Dujuan Richards ends up impressing to the extent of being signed by Newcastle but he seems assured that he did enough during his trial to do so.
Dujuan Richards is confident about passing Newcastle trial
The teenager has been compared to Ronaldo Nazario by youth football expert Jacek Kulig, who has also claimed that he is well capable of functioning both as a No.9, a second striker as well as on the wing.
Now, Dujuan Richards has told Chronicle Live that he expects to sign for Newcastle after making an impression during his trial.
“All I can say is I think I did well and I was able to be seen by all the coaches. I am grateful for the opportunity and I believe I could be a good fit.”

“I’m very pleased with how the trial went and I believe my performance was impressive enough. I learned about their methods, their visions for the club and where they want to be. I know they are a very ambitious club and want to be playing in the Champions League. I am expecting to hear positively from the club.”
It is refreshing to see a player as young as Dujuan Richards be as quietly confident as he is about having impressed the Newcastle coaches during his trial.
If the starlet has indeed caught the eye at Darsley Park, the club could be signing one hell of a talent.
