Draymond Green backs Steve Kerr amid Jonathan Kuminga debate

Responding on Threads, Draymond Green wrote: “So the coach with 4 rings and 1 Olympic gold as an assistant and 1 as a head coach isn’t a real coach? Come on now.”

The comment came after a fan suggested Quin Snyder’s positive remarks about Jonathan Kuminga highlighted shortcomings elsewhere.

Green instead emphasised Steve Kerr’s championship résumé, pointing to four NBA titles and Olympic success as evidence of his credentials.

Jonathan Kuminga shines in early Atlanta Hawks appearances

Jonathan Kuminga has averaged 22.0 points, 8.0 rebounds, and 3.5 assists per game across his first two outings for Atlanta.

The strong production has fueled discussion about his expanded role and offensive freedom under Snyder.

While the sample size remains small, Kuminga’s early impact has been notable. Green’s defence of Kerr underscores the belief inside Golden State that development paths differ and that team context shapes opportunity.

For now, Kuminga’s form in Atlanta is generating headlines. Green’s message suggests that it should not come at the expense of Kerr’s legacy.
