Golden State Warriors general manager Mike Dunleavy Jr. has responded firmly to Jonathan Kuminga’s trade request, making it clear the team will not make a move unless it serves their interests.

Mike Dunleavy Jr. addressed the situation before the Golden State Warriors’ game against the Toronto Raptors, where Jonathan Kuminga returned to Steve Kerr’s rotation.

Despite reported interest from multiple teams, the Warriors are standing firm. They see Kuminga as a valuable prospect and are unwilling to let him go for anything less than a strong return.

Mike Dunleavy Jr. delivers firm message to Jonathan Kuminga

Speaking to reporters, Mike Dunleavy Jr. made it clear that Jonathan Kuminga’s trade request does not mean a deal is imminent.

The Golden State Warriors GM emphasized that the team will only move the 23-year-old if another team meets their expected valuation.

“When you make a demand, there needs to be a demand. We’re aware of his wishes, but this is about what’s best for the organization.”

His comments were widely seen as a reality check for Kuminga, underlining the team’s commitment to long-term decision-making rather than reacting to player pressure.

Jonathan Kuminga’s status remains unresolved ahead of trade deadline

Jonathan Kuminga has drawn interest from the Dallas Mavericks and Sacramento Kings, though no formal offers have been reported.

While the forward has shown flashes of potential, his production has been inconsistent – partly due to a lack of opportunities.

With the trade deadline approaching, Dunleavy’s stance suggests that Kuminga is likely to remain with the Warriors unless a significant offer arrives.

The situation remains one of the most closely watched storylines heading into February, as the trade deadline approaches.
