Ale Moreno has warned Arsenal transfer target Weston McKennie that he could be making a mistake by joining Leeds United because he is taking a step ‘downwards’ from Juventus, as he told ESPN.
The USMNT international could be linking up with fellow countryman Jesse Marsch, Tyler Adams and Brendan Aaronson at Leeds, that’s if the Yorkshire side can conclude a deal with Juventus for the midfielder.
The Serie A giants are in a heap of mess, both on and off the field of play. They have been docked 15 points. They are in a financial mess and it could also result in them missing out on Champions League football next season.

Whilst McKennie isn’t one of their prized assets, he is still a top-quality player that could be Premier League bound, with Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal hoping to hijack Leeds’ deal for the 24-year-old.
There is the possibility of being thrust straight into a Premier League title battle or even in a relegation battle if he moves to Yorkshire.
Bearing that in mind, that’s why former forward Moreno is confused at McKennie possibly wanting to join Leeds this month.
“It’s the United States of Leeds, it’s what is becoming,” said Moreno. “If you are Weston McKennie, regardless of the mess that is currently going on at Juventus, it’s still one of the most recognisable brands in European football.
“You are going to a team that’s fighting to stay up because that’s the picture of where Leeds United are right now.
“So, you are going to go from Juventus, a recognisable brand in Europe, to Leeds. To fight against relegation? I don’t know how messy of a mess it is in Juventus. But I would rather stay in that mess than go into a mess with a team that could go down, that’s my perspective from a player.
“I would stay at Juventus. Try to figure and fight it out here up until I have something better lined up. Leeds is a move downwards from Juventus.”

MCKENNIE WOULD BE A BIG SIGNING FOR LEEDS
This is a player that was just recently playing Champions League football, and despite their troubles, for one of the elite teams in Europe.
He is worthy of joining a team like Arsenal or another side competing near the top of the table, therefore, a transfer to Leeds would be a big coup from the relegation-threatened side.
It certainly increases the club’s chances of survival and it could even see Marsch field an all-American midfield in the English Premier League, which would be something.
