Borussia Dortmund reportedly want to sign Italian international and rumoured Arsenal target Gianluca Scamacca as a potential replacement for Erling Haaland this summer.
According to Sky Germany, the 24-year-old striker is an option for the Bundesliga giants as a signing who can replace Haaland, who has recently joined Manchester City in a deal worth £400,000-a-week if reports are to be believed. But unfortunately for Dortmund, Arsenal are well in the race for Scamacca.
Recent reports have suggested that Arsenal are not only interested in the Sassuolo star but have also made a bid for the Azzurri striker, with Newcastle United and West Ham also reportedly keen on Scamacca alongside Dortmund’s new interest in the attacker.

Scamacca enjoyed a breakout season with Sassuolo as the Italian hit 16 goals in Serie A and was called up to the Italy national team for the first time, with many predicting the striker to lead Roberto Mancini’s side in the coming years, and the attacker’s form has caught plenty of attention.
Reports indicate that Sassuolo want €50m (£43m) for Scamacca, with Arsenal making a bid believed to be in the €40m (£34m) range, and for Dortmund, they could smell a chance to sign the Italian with the Gunners stalling on whether or not to make a second offer.
Indeed, with Arsenal desperate for a top-quality striker this summer and Dortmund in a similar boat after losing Haaland, it will be interesting to see which side goes out the furthest to land Scamacca, who this summer looks set for a major transfer away from Sassuolo.
Dortmund could be more enticing for Scamacca than Arsenal

Dortmund are one of the best clubs in Europe for improving players on a consistent basis, and for Scamacca, this and the prospect of UEFA Champions League football could edge out moving to Arsenal despite the exciting project Mikel Arteta is currently leading.
It is clear that Scamacca is ready for a step-up in his career, and whilst the Premier League is an alluring prospect, Dortmund and Champions League could be too much of a pull for the striker that could see Arsenal miss out on the talented attacker this summer.
