Rennes manager Bruno Genesio has distanced himself from speculation regarding a shock switch to Premier League trio Tottenham Hotspur, Everton and Wolves, speaking to FootMercato.
You might have noticed that all of the aforementioned Prem clubs currently have a manager in place. But how secure are Antonio Conte, Bruno Lage and Frank Lampard, really?
Conte is never too far away from another existential crisis. Lage was ‘flattered’ by apparent interest from Brazilian giants Corinthians recently.
And who would blame Lampard, really, if he got cold feet about an Everton side who appear to be a magnet for drama and negative headlines at the moment?
Perhaps this is why Genesio has been sounded out by a trio of Premier League clubs, according to RMC Sport. You know, just in case.
The 55-year-old former Lyon boss is doing sterling work at Rennes, turning the Brittany-based club into the most watchable side in France, one with Champions League football in their sights.
Rennes are the division’s top scorers too, even ahead of Paris Saint-Germain.
Is Bruno Genesio heading to the Premier League?
“Regarding all the information about me and the players, you always have to take a step back and focus on the job,” Genesio said on Friday when asked about the rumours.
“I don’t know at all (whether the interest is real). I don’t have any concrete info on anything. What I know is that I’m good at Stade Rennais. There are nine games left to play this season. And I still have a year on my contract. I don’t pay attention to these things.”
“What interests me is to devote myself to my work so that we are as efficient as possible until the end of the season.

“Three things are important in my job. The sports project, the human project and our personal ambitions. I’m happy to be here. Everything is going well.
“Obviously, everyone loves English football and everyone wants to play or train there one day. But I am fully involved the Stade Rennais project and I have no reason to think about anything else, neither now nor in the very near future. On the contrary.”
That’s that, then.
In a couple of years, Genesio might find it impossible to turn down an opportunity in the Premier League. For now, he’s happy and settled on the other side of the Channel.
