Aberdeen are under no pressure to sell Calvin Ramsay to Premier League giants West Ham United and Everton in the January transfer window, Dons chairman Dave Cormack tells the Daily Record.
Up until very recently, the argument over the best crosser of a ball in Scottish football usually boiled down to two names; Rangers duo James Tavernier and Borna Barisic.
Now, however, there may be a third option, another horse in the race.
There are few teenagers in Britain with a better final ball than 18-year-old Calvin Ramsay. Eight assists in 17 games speak volumes about his quality from the right-hand side, with some Aberdeen supporters labelling Ramsay Pittodrie’s answer to David Beckham.
It hasn’t taken long for clubs south of the border to wake up to Ramsay’s potential either.
According to The Sun, Premier League trio Southampton, West Ham and Everton are watching the Scotland U21 international like a hungry hawk heading into the January transfer window.
Will Calvin Ramsay stay at Aberdeen?
“Players will go if it is right for them and the club as well. (But) we don’t need to sell players in January, I can tell you that right now,” said Aberdeen boss Cormack.
“In saying that, if the right price comes along for the right player and we have the ability to replace that player then it is something we would look at.
“We certainly don’t need to sell players in January and we won’t be encouraging any last-minute window approaches for the sake of us being unable to replace players.”
Everton have made a new right-back one of their top priorities and not a moment too soon.
The fact that 33-year-old Seamus Coleman remains the only senior right-back at Rafa Benitez’s disposal is a damning indictment of the club’s recruitment in recent seasons.
Who could replace Seamus Coleman at Everton?

The Toffees made two offers for another Scottish Premiership starlet, Rangers’ Nathan Patterson, over the summer.
According to Cormack, however, neither Everton nor anyone else has submitted a bid for Ramsay just yet.
“We have not had a call from anybody yet. We haven’t had any contact from any clubs in any of our young players, Calvin Ramsay or otherwise,” he adds.
“There are not many right back at his age like him, doing what he does.
“Look at the data. He is in the elite upper bracket, right up there, for a young right-back in Europe.”
