While the early optimism of the Stephen Glass era has dissipated following a difficult start to the season, at least the performances of Everton target Calvin Ramsay is putting a smile on Aberdeen fans’ faces.
But how much longer will the Dons be able to rely on the ruthless right peg of their 18-year-old sensation?
Ramsay has already been linked with a host of Premier League clubs – Southampton, Leicester City and West Ham United are keen while Everton sent scouts to watch him in action a few weeks ago – and performances like Sunday’s will only give credence to the view the teenager is outgrowing Pittodrie (The Sun).
Everton target Calvin Ramsay has ‘no fear’
“He’s good on the ball with both feet. He has great energy, his deliveries are excellent and he has a real confidence despite being relatively young,” former Hamilton Academical boss Brian Rice said recently.
“There’s no fear in the young lad Ramsay. He just wants to run at players and get at defences. The young boy looks to have a massive future in the game if he keeps progressing the way he has. There will be big clubs looking at him.
“There are a lot of full-backs whose delivery isn’t great but last Saturday Ramsay’s crossing was exceptional. I can see why people are raving about him.”

Ramsay was, once again, Aberdeen’s stand-out performer during the 3-2 defeat to St Mirren, his “exceptional” delivery on show for all to see.
Two inch-perfect, dare we say Beckham-esque free-kicks set up both the Dons goals. In total, Ramsay has six assists in 14 games this season.
And while Ben Godfrey and Jonjoe Kenny are struggling to fill a Seamus Coleman-shaped void on the right of Everton’s defence, Ramsay continues to do his chances of a January move no harm at all.
Here’s what some Aberdeen fans on Twitter had to say about Ramsay’s performance:
