Tottenham Hotspur fans have reacted after it was suggested that Daniel Levy appointing Antonio Conte shouldn’t be ruled out yet.
Italian journalist, Gabriele Marcotti, told ESPN FC that Conte’s chances of landing the Tottenham job may not be over yet.
Sky Sports recently reported that Tottenham’s pursuit of the highly demanding coach was over after he had major doubts about the role.
That news was a body blow to Spurs fans, at the time, because they were building themselves up to him potentially becoming their new coach.
But now it seems another twist has occurred, as Marcotti suggests that he wouldn’t ‘take it as a given that this is done with’.
After getting their hopes up high previously, Spurs supporters are treading carefully on these waters now because they know exactly what could come their way.
Landing a coach of Conte’s stature, quality and calibre would no doubt lift the glum mood in North London, well on one side anyway.
If Conte’s league title wins, success in England and recent title win with Inter isn’t enough to get Spurs fans off their seat then Daniele De Rossi’s previous comments will.
The Italy legend, who has had an illustrious career, shared in 2016 that Conte is a ‘special’ coach and one of the best he has worked with, as quoted by the Guardian.
But it’s pretty clear that the Tottenham faithful just don’t trust Levy to get the job done and bring him to Spurs.
