Spain beat Argentina 1-0 in the final of the 2026 World Cup, which Donald Trump was in attendance to watch.
The President was part of the trophy celebrations after the match and handed out the medals to players.
Meanwhile, while Spain were celebrating their victory with a parade, goalscorer Ferran Torres wore a ‘Make Spain Great Again’ cap, which Trump has now been asked about.

Donald Trump appreciates Ferran Torres’ ‘Make Spain Great Again’ cap
The White House has already responded to Torres wearing what is basically a copy of the ‘Make America Great Again’ cap that became popular under Trump.
Now, the President himself has commented, and stated that ‘we appreciate’ the Spain star ‘essentially’ wearing a MAGA cap.
He said: “He is a great player. He was wearing essentially a Make America Great Again cap, so it was a nice tribute. And I think he meant that very nicely; we appreciate it.
“We have, we’ve made America great. We’re the greatest country in the world now. I will say this, we, a year and a half ago, two years ago, this country was in deep trouble.”
A number of people have since taken to the comment section of the video to react.
One wrote: “Many in Spain admire you @POTUS.”
Another added: “I really like the comment – basically a MAGA hat. @potus says deep things in ways that others often make the mistake of underappreciating. MAGA.”
“It’s interesting to see sports and politics intertwine like this in such a fun way,” commented a third.
