Lionel Messi and Argentina made a stunning comeback against England during the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The 2026 FIFA World Cup semifinal seemed to be going in England’s way when Anthony Gordon broke the deadlock with his 55th-minute goal.

While the Three Lions held the lead until the 84th minute, Lionel Messi spearheaded the defending champions’ comeback with two assists in the dying minutes of the game.

Donald Trump confidently claims he noticed something special about Lionel Messi

With Argentina through to the 2026 FIFA World Cup finals, several experts have broken down their insane comeback against England.

The list of experts apparently includes US President Donald Trump, who recently claimed he spotted something about Messi’s performance against England that people aren’t talking about.

“I watched that pass that Messi made, not knowing as much as the people in this room, but I know about sports, and I know a little bit about soccer, but I watched Messi, and he was well guarded, right?

“And all of a sudden he is standing on the right, you understand what I’m talking about? I don’t know – I just noticed it,” Trump said at a reception in New York City.

He added, “Nobody talked about it, I just noticed it. I said, he is too well guarded by a great player. And then he moved to the right, and the other player was just standing there.”

“And he had plenty of time. He kicked it. It was within I would say a quarter of an inch of being perfect. And that was the end of the game. It was brilliant.”

Trump’s analysis may be spot on, but Messi shifting to the right wing when Argentina need to make a comeback has been a recurring theme this World Cup. So, it has been extensively discussed even before England were knocked out of the tournament.
